A modest proposal for Income Tax Reform

In order to promote government of the people, by the people, and for the people, taxpayers should be able to specify how at least 51% of their tax money is spent.

The remaining 49% could be spent any way the government chooses to prioritize in order to meet it’s obligations.

A simple and straightforward way to implement this is to revise the tax forms so that they include choices that the taxpayer simply check, for example – –

[] Let the government spend my tax money any way they choose.
[] Military
[] Eduction of Citizens not in the military
[] Health Care
[] Domestic Infrastructure
[] Space Exploration
[] Non-Military Scientific Research, including Medical Research
[] Aid to foreign countries
[] Etc.

The exact changes to the tax forms to be determined by a panel of non-governmental experts appointed by the President, with Congressional approval.

Such a change should be available only to individual human taxpayers, NOT corporations. Taxes for corporations is a subject for another day.

I know, I KNOW ! The devil is in the details, and they can be worked out over a period of a year, or so, by people more qualified than I.

Do I think this will ever happen?

No, but I think it should.

What do YOU think ?
